So hey everyone, it’s thread timehttps://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="πŸ”₯" title="Feuer" aria-label="Emoji: Feuer">https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="πŸ”₯" title="Feuer" aria-label="Emoji: Feuer">

It’s been a while so I’ll repeat the mantra of saying that y’know, this is my opinion- but I’m sure by now you know this.
Again, feel free to leave your own opinions down below, I love reading them!

Also please try to be civil. This isn’t a Warzone :)

So let’s get into things shall we?https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="πŸ˜‰" title="Zwinkerndes Gesicht" aria-label="Emoji: Zwinkerndes Gesicht">
Finn’s Story in The Rise of Skywalker is often debated and for good reason. It walks a fine line of being very undervalued by JJ Abrams, the director and creator of the character. The one thing a lot of people seem to agree on is that there isn’t enough.
Now, I agree to an extent. I do think his story is a little undercooked; but I don’t think we are lacking. In all honesty, with the style we know JJ for, is it surprising that Finn has story left to tell? Honestly I’m surprised that fans aren’t happy-
Surely this just leaves it wide open for more Finn content in the future?
One of the main things I see people complaining about is that Finn’s force sensitivity is never outright spoken. It’s not until a few months after the film releases that JJ confirms that Finn is force sensitive. But why be mad? It’s not as if that’s the first we know of it-
-in fact, from seeing The Rise of Skywalker, we KNOW he’s force sensitive. There’s so many moments that highlight this and I don’t get why we need verbal confirmation when we have scenes like the ones we have.
For me; there is a lot to love about The Rise of Skywalker but Finn has the films most beautiful scene, as it says a thousand words with absolutely none spoken (again, verbal confirmation isn’t a necessity)
Rey has just died after defeating the emperor. No one should know; but Finn does. The music heightens as we see Finn’s reaction. He feels the loss through the force. This is the final nail in the coffin that tells us β€œyes, what we believed is true, Finn is force sensitive”
But why confirm this with words? Now imagine we change the film a little. As they are sinking in the fields of Passana. Finn tells Rey that he has a confession, and actually reveals his force sensitivity then. Sure, this creates a fun moment in that scene-
-but it arguably kills the genuine emotion that comes with the scene I previously mentioned. Finn’s horrified and downright shocked reaction to feeling the loss of Rey doesn’t hit as hard if we have the verbal confirmation of his force sensitivity.
Film for me is a visual fantasy. As it is for all of you. I believe in the idea of β€œshow; don’t tell.” For me Finn’s force sensitivity in this film only works because we aren’t outright told. The entire dynamic of the group changes if they know.
You may have disagreed with absolutely everything I’ve just said here, and that’s completely fine. I loved Finn in The Last Jedi and I love him just as much here.
Once more let me clarify that to an extent I agree with the majority. It COULD’VE been more. But I’m not going to sit here and wallow over what could’ve been, because I know Star Wars is an expansive narrative that is covered across many media’s.
We’ll have Finn’s story. No matter what form, his story, much like Rey’s is far from over. The Sequel Trilogy is just the beginninghttps://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="πŸ”₯" title="Feuer" aria-label="Emoji: Feuer">https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="πŸ”₯" title="Feuer" aria-label="Emoji: Feuer">https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="πŸ”₯" title="Feuer" aria-label="Emoji: Feuer">
So again, thank you for reading. Like I said feel free to reply to this with your thoughts. If you wanna DM me I can also talk about it, would be better for a longer discussion imo.

You might notice that there only seems to be Sequel threads on my account and there’s a very-
simple reason for that. As my favourite, I feel that I can be at my most passionate when talking about these films. I love these characters so much and could talk about them for hours, it’s resonance that I just don’t have for the OT and PT as much as I love those films.
See you all in the next one!https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="☺️" title="LÀchelndes Gesicht" aria-label="Emoji: LÀchelndes Gesicht">https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="✌🏻" title="Siegeshand (heller Hautton)" aria-label="Emoji: Siegeshand (heller Hautton)">
