Many of those are already published. Some are forthcoming. Some are accepted but in editing and might go by the wayside (though I will, as usual, fight to keep them in).
And even though they're there for humorous effect, I do think they genuinely enhance my papers and make academic (and academia) a speck of dust more pleasant to be in. Rigour shouldn't have to mean stuffy. Lightheartedness doesn't mean un-rigorous.
My work treats with very serious topics, and humorous additions are how I stay sane despite researching my own dehumanization. It's also a way to make my work more appealing to those outside of academia, because I want them to read it. I don't want to be stuck in an ivory tower.
