With the @USPS in the news so much these days, here is a **thread about cool #stamps** I'm going to buy and hang on to for a few months!!
My favorite stamp set available online is illustrations from Ezra Jack Keats’ “The Snowy Day”, which my mom and I used to read together all the time 💕. I got a pack at the postal museum with @_rbuencon last summer: https://store.usps.com/store/product/buy-stamps/the-snowy-day-S_676104
They also have an “Enjoy the Great Outdoors” series that includes a cyclist and backpackers with some sweet mountains: https://store.usps.com/store/product/buy-stamps/enjoy-the-great-outdoors-S_572804
Current offerings include lots of organisms popular in #sciencetwitter, including butterflies, orchids, frogs... Plus if you have a bunch of fun stamps, it's easier to overcome the urge to keep the best ones for yourself.
I will definitely be ordering a set of the Tyrannosaurus Rex (luckily stamps are adhesive - I don’t think their arms are long enough to let them lick a stamp?!) https://store.usps.com/store/product/buy-stamps/tyrannosaurus-rex-S_479204
A friend requested that I purchase him the Scooby-Doo set... (I did not know Scooby was a Great Dane until I read this description!) https://store.usps.com/store/product/buy-stamps/scooby-doo-S_565504
The dragon multi-pack (which I used on invitations to a friend’s surprise Game of Thrones-themed bridal shower!!) was 🔥- you might be able to find it (and other random gems) at your local post office.
If you like sea creatures, you'll love their postcard stamps (though when I send postcards, I just use old non-forever stamps I forgot about 😬): https://store.usps.com/store/product/buy-stamps/coral-reefs-postcard-stamp-S_745104
You can also *subscribe* to stamp purchases - a roll of 100 stamps delivered once or twice a month does seem like a lot, but to each their own, I guess: https://store.usps.com/store/product/buy-stamps/stamp-subscription-first-class-roll-SUBSFCC
There are a bunch more online, and some oldies but goodies out there in post offices (like the eclipse stamps that change color with a finger press!). Keep an eye out and happy stamp shopping!!
Thank you @Cat_F_Henderson for pointing out these stamps chronicling innovations in science and engineering, including genome sequencing!! https://twitter.com/cat_f_henderson/status/1294315312960155650
