It is clear reg Dems are far outpacing reg Reps in mail ballot requests in FL and NC. We'll get data for other states soon that should verify this phenomenon is not just in these two states. Republicans have listened to Trump's rhetoric and are not requesting mail ballots
The post office has already been running slow during the pandemic. There are any number of stories like this where people have not gotten their mail for weeks https://patch.com/illinois/chicago/no-mail-weeks-post-service-falling-apart-chicago
So, should you not vote a mail ballot? NO. If you request a mail ballot now (nearly every state is accepting ballot requests for Nov.), election officials will mail your ballot in plenty of time before the election
In nearly all states you do not need to return your ballot by mail. You can return it at a drop box, elections office, or polling location. So, if you are concerned about the post office, you have options. Many places have websites where you can see if your ballot was received
If you do request your mail ballot, and never receive it, you can still vote in-person as a fail safe. You may need to surrender your mail ballot (if you have it), or vote a provisional ballot (to ensure that you do not vote more than once)
