Let's talk about the United States. The "president" has steadily dismantled one protection after another and the American people and our elected officials have *underreacted* at every turn, in part because we're meant to be a democracy, and people THINK we can vote him out. 1/?

Now the "president," his backers, and his cult are doing everything possible--much of it right out in the open--to suppress votes, eliminate votes, discourage votes. Whether intentional or not... 2/?

...the result of his cultists believing Covid-19 is a hoax and that masks are a hoax makes them *unafraid* to go to the polls on Election Day. Whereas those who know Covid-19 is real and deadly are more likely than ever to stay away from the polls and vote by mail. 3/?

Now the USPS is being purposefully dismantled. Curbside mailboxes are being removed. Mail sorting machines are being removed. Postal workers' hours are being cut. If mail-in ballots don't reach their destination in time (or at all), they WILL NOT BE COUNTED. 4/?

Election laws are being broken by the hour, out in the open. Jared Kushner conspires with a mentally ill Kanye West in vulnerable states to attempt to draw just enough votes to give those states to the "president." It sounds like a joke, but there's nothing funny about it. 5/?

Many are calling for a #GeneralStrike, something I've advocated for a long time, but if it doesn't happen soon, it won't matter. Once the election has taken place, if the Enemy of the People is "reelected," any remaining tatters of democracy will be torn away. 6/?

Any small attempts he has made to pretend to be something more than a dictator will vanish. The most dangerous man in his administration, Bill Barr, will be fully unleashed. We're in a Cold War for the soul of America right now, and that's not hyperbole. So what can you do?

1) PLAN YOUR VOTE. If your state offers early in-person voting, choose that option to avoid both the intentional postal disruptions AND potential long lines in the midst of a pandemic. If you can't vote early in-person & you're willing, plan to vote in person on Election Day. 8/?

Wear a mask. Protect yourself. But Vote. In. Person. If you can. If you must vote by mail, investigate the deadlines in your state. Vote the earliest moment that you can do so in order to avoid your ballot arriving "too late" or being "lost." See the link below for more info. 9/?

2) SUPPORT A GENERAL STRIKE. The time is long overdue for Americans who believe in democracy to rise up in protest. Not like the protests we've seen, but in a protest unlike anything the U.S. has seen before. 10/11

The only thing Trump's true backers understand is a threat to their wealth. When even essential workers refuse to work, when consumers refuse to consume, when the economy grinds to a halt, that *may* force them to take action. 11/12
