It’s funny how I ended up in the “reactionary right” sphere because the “progressive left” couldn’t read literature outside of its wonked hermeneutic— & this worked for a while— until “not reading books” became the “based” position, almost universally.

It used to be like— “logo, thank you for showing how illiterate the *educated elite* truly are— this is hilarious— they dont even read the books they pretend to even tho they base their cultural elite status on erudition lol”

Then it turned into— “logo, you didn’t expect *us* to actually *read* those books, right? We only liked that it showed how cultural elite status is dissevered from actual erudition. That was *our* point. Elite status is only force. We were never going to read books lol”

It’s funny because in 2017 the people who would try to “own” me were DSA types who said “god you’re such a nerd no one actually cares about james joyce you fucking nerd”— now it’s mostly the “based right” who do this.

I have found about 5 people on here who I can have actual conversations about books with— & that was over the course of 5 years— all of these people are “pseudo-intellectuals” who have no “cultural elite” status— but merely “enjoy reading actual literature” as its own end.
