2. A promising young centre-back with 1860 Munich 2 and Augsburg 2, Nagelsmann was praised for his intelligence, composure in possession and was expected to have a long career in the Bundesliga by his peers.
3. Due to a persistent knee injury he had to retire from the game in 2007 at the age of just 20 years old.
4. During the 2007/08 season, current PSG boss and future UCL semi-final opponent Thomas Tuchel was Augsburg 2 coach and gave Nagelsmann his big break with the task of scouting upcoming opponents for him:

"That was my way into coaching. I learned a lot from him."
5. By the age of 25 he was already assistant manager of Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga during their 2012-13 season, earning the nickname "Baby Mourinho"
6. In Feb 2016, when veteran tactician Huub Stevens resigned as Hoffenheim manager for health reasons, the club appointed Nagelsmann as boss at the tender age of 28, making him the youngest permanent manager in Bundesliga history, with the club in 17th and doomed for relegation..
7. He won 7 of the final 14 Bundesliga games of the season to steer them to safety and a 15th-placed finish. An immediate impact.
8. At Hoffenheim he revolutionised their training methods, installing a 6x3m Videowall and four cameras next to their training pitch.

This allowed Nagelsmann to explain to the players in more detail the in-depth tactical instructions he wanted carried out while they were playing
9. After Bundesliga finishes of 4th, 3rd and 9th respectively with Hoffenheim, RB Leipzig came calling and he took over a club founded which was founded two years AFTER he retired as a player.
10. Nagelsmann & Leipzig finished 3rd in the league, securing an 8-0 win vs Mainz along the way.

In Europe, they qualified top of a group featuring Lyon, Benfica and Zenit before beating Tottenham 4-0 on aggregate in the last-16, with 'Baby Mourinho' knocking out Jose Mourinho.
11. By beating Atletico Madrid at the QF stage, Nagelsmann became the youngest manager ever to take a team to a UCL semi-final and the first boss to beat Diego Simeone in a knockout tie in the competition without featuring Cristiano Ronaldo in their team.
