We all know that KDB and Sterling are very good FPL assets, with them being same price it’ll be hard to pick.
So here’s some stats to make your decision easier!

@OfficialFPL #FPL #FPLCommunity
The community is usually refering to KDB as the consistent one and Sterling as the explosive one.
Therefore I'll compare them over their last three playing sesaons to see if that really is true. (Since KDB was injured the 2018/19 season I'll use the 2016/17 instead).
KDB left, Sterling right
If we look at their heat maps from last season we see that KDB operates all over the field while Sterling stays more out wide but that also results in him being in the box more often.
Last season stats: KDB vs Sterling
Mins: 2.798 vs 2660
Points: 251 vs 204
xPts: 209.5 vs 218.3
Goals: 14 vs 20
Assists: 23 vs 6
Shots/In box/ On target:
BC: 6 vs 33
xG: 8.4 vs 18.52
NPxG: 6.86 vs 16.98
BCM: 3 vs 19
KP: 136 vs 48
BCC: 34 vs 9
xA: 19.54 vs 9.01
As we probably already knew Sterling is more of a goal threat while KDB is the mastermind behind the city attack. This season Sterling has been a weird asset, both starting and ending with a bang but during the season being very inconsistent for example he blanked from GW20-GW29
Despite the stats saying that Sterling overperformed his xG we can still see that he wasn’t very clinical, he missed 19 big chances which is very bad but it also goes to show what ability he posses. Scoring 20 goals for a winger while missing so many chances is incredible.
KDB over performed his xG massively, scoring 14 goals from 8.4 xG. That’s mostly due to his ability and that nearly half of his goals comes from outside the box (6). Even though the stats say that he overperformed his xA he easily could’ve had more if they were more clinical.
Gametime
KDB:
2019/20: 35 games & 2800 mins
2017/18: 37 games & 3085 mins
2016/17: 36 games & 2884 mins
Sterling:
2019/20: 33 games & 2658 mins
2018/19: 34 games & 2777 mins
2017/18: 33 games & 2593 mins
With Sterling, Aguero, Gundogan, Jesus and Mahrez missing pens over the last three seasons I believe KDB might be on pens since he has only missed 1 in his whole career. With city receving the 2nd most pens this season (11) his goal scoring potenial becomes even higher.
One interesting stat that caught my eye was that Sterlings away record is way stronger than his home record.
Home vs Away
Goals: 6 vs 14
xG: 4.82 vs 13.7
BC: 7 vs 26
SiB: 33 vs 50
A: 4 vs 2
xA: 3.98 vs 5.03
BCC: 4 vs 6
KDB on the other hand has been far stronger at home.
Goals: 10 vs 4
xG: 5.37 vs 3.03
BC: 5 vs 1
SiB: 26 vs 15
A: 13 vs 10
xA: 11.59 vs 7.95
BCC: 20 vs 14
Who really is the most explosive?
KDB
2019/2020: 10 in total (17, 10, 19, 14, 14,14, 14, 19)
2017/18: 8 double digit returns
2016/17: 7 double digit returns
Total: 25
Sterling double digit returns,
2019/20: 9 in total (20, 11, 10,10, 10, 16, 10, 21, 17,)
2018/19: 9 double digit returns
2017/18: 10 double digit returns
Total: 29
Who is more consistent? (returns are 5 or more points)
KDB:
2019/20: Played in 35/38 returned in 21 of 35 (60%)

2017/18: Played in 37/38, returned in 19 of 37 (51%)

2016/17: Played in 36/38, returned in 18 of 36 (50%)
Sterling:
2019/20: Played in 33/38 returned in 16/33 (49%)

2018/19: Played in 34/38, returned in 20 of 34 (59%)

2017/18: Played in 33/38, returned in 23 of 33 (70%)
VS the top 6 sides:
KDB:
2019/20: 4G & 3A in 10 games

2017/18: 3G & 2A in 10 games

2016/17: 2G & 3A in 9 games

Total: 9G & 8A in 29

Sterling:
2019/20: 2G & 3A in 9 games

2018/29: 3G & 5A in 10 games

2017/18: 3G & 3A in 7 games

Total: 8G & 11A in 26 games
In conclusion Sterling is actually being more consistent and explosive. Sterling also has a better record against top 6 sides. But with KDB possibly being on pens & FKs and more minutes it's still a very close call!
