WorFund & Dr Fox. A thread:

I became aware of @WorFund when @robba84 messaged me about it, and like everyone else was skeptical about it. I spent most of the day trashing it, and decided to contact @nefoxy91 directly about it. #NUFC
Dan answered a couple of initial questions and gave me his number to call him. At about 5:30pm on Thursday I spoke with him on the phone for about half an hour.

In fairness to Dan, he answered all of the questions I had like he fully believed this madness.
Despite answering all my questions, they were all answered with nudges and hints, and no solid names.

Dan swore me to secrecy but has since contradicted himself and locked his Twitter, so I feel like I have a duty of care to other fans who may be looking to donate to this.
Dan said that this all began when he appeared on @stevewraith’s show and this ‘group’ approached him to basically be their ‘digital guy’ which raises its own questions after the way Dan has handled some of this.
The problem with this is Dan’s story doesn’t quite add up because as you can see from this tweet he admits that he read out a statement from the ‘group’ on the show.

Contradictions everywhere.
Dan says the group is headed up by a successful businessman who specialises in taking down ‘cartels’ that are in breach of competition laws and has been involved in huge cases around the globe.
Dan wouldn’t tell me who this shadowy figure was but pointed me to an article on @NUFCTheMag.

This would seemingly be a man named Gordon B. Stein. There is not much information available on him that I can find, if he’s real.
Dan said this mysterious man has already contributed £40,000 of his own money, which again doesn’t fit with any of the fund raising or story to this point.
One of the only concrete names to this whole thing is listed on their website by the name of Robert O’Donoghue QC, who Dan claims is representing the group. I have reached out to him for comment and have not heard back.
Dan also stated that the group has been in touch with Staveley and the consortium and have been told to “keep it up” and that they’re doing the consortium’s bidding whilst the consortium continues to talk to the PL in the background.
Hmmm, how can I prove if this is true or not? Well I decided to go and ask Amanda Staveley’s husband.

Amanda, nor the consortium are involved in @WorFund. Mehrdad has said he is happy for me to say that.
I asked Dan if they thought the PL were in breach of competition law, what evidence did they have to prove this?

“Ah well, there must be something. We’ve heard they have” was the reassuring answer given.
Now, onto the money. I asked Dan why they need the JustGiving page if this shadowy figure is so prolific in this area, and his answer was “we don’t, but we saw the attention the petition got and wanted to do it as a group initiative with the fans.”

So, they don’t need the money?
Dan stated “We know £500K isn’t enough to challenge the PL in court, but they don’t think it’ll get to court. This £500K would just pay the QC to go into the PL, and then any left over will go to the charities”.

They. Don’t. Even. Need. The. Fucking. Money.
Dan pointed out on a number of occasions to me that he has “nothing to do with the money” and that it’s all handled by a “financial person”.

I asked a few times and got no name for this person, although he claims it’ll be revealed soon. My money is on Bernie Madoff.
I would strongly advise against donating to the page, and have also reported the page to JustGiving.

At best, this is a Newcastle fan misleading and taking other fans’ money without a proper grasp on how it’ll be spent.

At worst, it’s straight up fraud.
Dan said that the group has been in touch with 3 “high profile” local journalists, which leaves the obvious ones you can think of. Again though, no names provided, just hints and fluff.

He claims there will be a press release on Monday or Tuesday by one of these journalists.
The one question I keep coming back to with all of this is, why Dan?

Why do these billionaires and legal experts need Dan from Ryton to take down the Premier League?

Dan thinks they just “want a fan who doesn’t have an agenda.”
After speaking with a few people, there’s a few possible scenarios:

1. It’s all real, and I’ve just fucked it all up. Sorry lads.

2. Dan believes that it’s real, but is being used as a pawn in a big scam.

3. Dan is a massive scam artist and has committed fraud.
Whatever the real situation, you’re better off spending your money on membership to @nufctrust and staying well clear of this.

Maybe also donate to the @nufcfoodbank as well. ✌🏼
