lrt i for one am fucking tired of “darker” versions of children’s shows. they really think that kids’ shows can’t be thoughtful and mature unless there’s sex and blood, huh?

to say nothing of the obvious issues of whitewashing.

it’s very telling to me when people’s idea of a more mature show is just making it ‘darker’ and adding blood and sex.

can mature shows have these? absolutely. i’m a horror fan, i’m not gonna decry that.

but is that what makes a show mature? absolutely not.

avatar already dealt with plenty of mature themes within the frameworks of a children’s cartoon. i would much rather see these themes explored thoughtfully than have sokka fuck the moon tbh
