This from Sanlon and Tinker makes some deeply important points. It seems to me that members of the conservative evangelical establishment either knew and did nothing, or were blind to what should have been blatant.

Further: our church constituency made national and international news, but I can count the sermons that preach into this scandal (at least that I’m aware of) on the fingers of one hand — it being reserved for the notices, the prayers, or for private conversations.
