Mythology can be very unkind to certain species. Example of such is an OSTRICH. Myths has it that they bury their heads when faced with danger, thinking if "I can't see the danger, then I'm invicible". This portrays them as incredibly stupid.

Oh well, according to the anatomy of the bird, their eyes are bigger than their brains, so do we say there is a correlation between it's anatomy and mythology? Maybe they do "think" with their eyes. Lol.
This is what is known and proven though, Ostriches, when they sleep lay their long neck flat out down. Due to their huge bodies, this sight might appear that their heads are buried. Now to another known behavior. OSTRICHES have side chicks.
As you might have guessed, this is the reason for this thread. Male ostriches are Yoruba demons. They tend the nest with a single favored mate(main chick). This hen lays about a half-dozen eggs in a shallow depression in the sand, which takes her about two weeks.

Other hens(side chicks) then add their own eggs to the nest, once finished, the favored mate(main chick) chases them off. The nest owners(now the demon is married) then incubate all the eggs: The female sits on them during the day, and the male takes a turn at night.
If only the myths would have chosen this side of the Ostrich behavior to concentrate on... If only.
