CANCELO V MENDY

Mendy was rotated a lot with Cancel after the restart, which tells me Cancelo will be the main competition at LB for Mendy.

I decided to look into the stats as I believe Cancelo could become the starting LB for City next season.

In the past Pep has questioned the concentration levels and fitness of Mendy. As Cancelo is a natural right back and is now playing on the left, I think Cancelo is being coached to become more effective on the left meaning we could see Mendy dropped indefinitely for him.

Mendy has been or one to defensive errors and has given away possession more frequently, however has provided more goal threat in the final third. I would argue this is based on BM playing more than Cancelo. It appears that Cancel is better at carrying the ball.

I can see this becoming one to watch from an FPL perspective as Cancelo will be £0.5m cheaper than Mendy meaning that, if Cancelo starts getting regular starts, he could become a cheap way into that City defence.
