A measure of how shockingly bad Twitter& #39;s emotion-driven chatter is for giving you a clear picture of events. My bubble is broad left & detests its government. Resulting chatter suggests every Covid-19 metric is worse for Britain than other European countries
I& #39;ve also been forming an impression that other governments are taking anti-Covid measures more seriously than the Johnson administration.
Reality is always more nuanced than feelings about it.
Of course, under Twitter rules, I will now receive a number of metrics revealing how poor the UK government& #39;s performance has been. But that& #39;s not the point.

The point is that emotional contagion isn& #39;t great for shining light on complex things.
Also, under Twitter rules, some will interpret this little thread as a defence of the UK government& #39;s performance.

But, in advance of the Twitsplaining that Britain has had the highest excess mortality etc, thank you for respecting the rules of Twitter https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="👍" title="Thumbs up" aria-label="Emoji: Thumbs up">
I forgot one of the most important Twitter rules.

If something doesn& #39;t fit one& #39;s templated narrative simply pass by without engaging.
Ps it& #39;s possible to be left wing while also interested in information that doesn& #39;t confirm one& #39;s biases about a reprehensible & corrupt government that is objectively unfit for office
I forgot another Twitter rule, exemplified by someone who quote-tweeted this thread to say that it actually proves how bad & #39;journalism& #39; is. Because ... consults notes ... the story was published to distract from the A-levels debacle.

I muted that person.
