Internet has made it easy to have multiple passive income streams. And having multiple income streams really helps during tough times like recession, pandemics etc.

This covers some of the ways through which you can earn some additional money on the side.

First lets understand the definition. Passive income is basically the money earned without your active involvement.

It doesn't mean it requires 0 work. You need to do some work upfront and also some additional work along the way too. But its negligible compared to your job.

Please be aware that this is not a quick rich scheme and you need to put effort in the beginning to start generating income on the side.

There are thousands of ways to generate passive income.

Here I'm going to list some ideas which I'm aware of and easy to get started.

1. Bootstrapping a Product:

Here you build SaaS products which solves one simple but real problem, targeting a niche audience. You generate revenue through one time and recurring charges.

Here you're generally not looking for a VC funding. You start small and stay small.

2. Selling information products:

Info products like e-books, video courses have become popular lately with the advent of platforms like @gumroad.

You can make a living from the income generated. But you need to have a good online presence first to succeed here.

If you're considering this option, you should follow people like @dvassallo, @CJ_Johnson17th for the inspiration.

These guys are really killing it thorough their products on @gumroad.

These people are the main reason why I started my online presence.

3. Freelancing:

This is very rewarding and you can achieve freedom from your 9-5 by freelancing full time. You just need to know how to find tasks.

4. Affiliate Marketing:

This is one of the easiest ways to make money on the internet. Here you basically earn a commission for helping someone sell their products through your unique link for theirs products.

There are many ways through which you can get started:

- contact a creator of gumroad course and ask them to add you as an affiliate.

- join affiliate programs from educational websites like udemy, http://educative.io  etc. Just google

"<company_name> affiliates program"

to see if the company has any affiliate program.

5. Blogging:

Blogging is something which is not rewarding right away. It's going to take vast amount of work and time to start generating income.

With blogs, you need to be aware of SEO, social media marketing, ability to write high value content to succeed.

Once you have a good audience for your blog, you can start promoting products, affiliate links or you can even get paid to write articles.
