So something I never talk about but is on my resume is that in 2008 I was a founding member of a substantial faith-based non-profit that “works to end sex trafficking in Southeast Asia”

And it’s exactly why I know that evangelical anti-trafficking movements are full of shit
The performatively emotional but unscientific conflation of “sex trafficking” with all “sex work” is THE CRUX of this movement and it’s exactly why you should never give it your time/ energy/ attention/ money/ etc.
Every so often, this cause becomes The Thing for evangelical Karens everywhere and usually involves a hearty dose of merchandising, peer pressure, and Instagram selfies.

Don’t fucking fall for it. It’s white saviorism. It’s uneducated. It’s racist. It’s classist. It’s evil.
Anyway, I wasted YEARS of my life talking about this shit while having no fucking idea what I was talking about. So don’t be like me. And follow @JoLuehmann on Instagram and learn how to learn more and do better instead.
And finally, let me just say, that any “anti-trafficking” org that isn’t anti-capitalist is, by definition,
