Every three months I see someone try to "organize" a "general strike" purely through propaganda and posting online. You need to do a LOT more than that if you want to pull off a strike let alone a general strike. Do you have a strike fund? Are you working with unions?
80% of workers are in at-will employment. If you don& #39;t have a strike fund and a guarantee that a critical mass WILL be striking too, then they& #39;re just not gonna risk it
Labor organizing is hard work. Organizing a single workplace to strike is a whole campaign that takes preparation. You need everyone to agree. Everyone needs to be in. Now imagine organizing every workplace. You don& #39;t do this just through spontaneity.
It& #39;s not impossible to organize a general strike. And it would be incredibly effective if you pulled it off.

But like, step one IMHO would be to work with your local unions.
Personally I will only be striking if my coworkers are also striking. There& #39;s 800+ of us, mostly Gen Xers and older people. Not exactly hashtag folks. It would have to be something we coordinate using our union.
Only 10 to 20% of workers are in unions but even getting 10 to 20% to strike would be an incredible achievement. A lot of work. Would need far far more than a few weeks to organize. You& #39;d need to do A Lot of relationship building and convincing. Organizing the At-Will even moreso
This is why a lot of us talk about organizing the unorganized and base building. We are not in outnumbered we are outorganized (Malcom X) if you want to call for a general strike you need that infrastructure in place. Including a STRIKE FUND to support people cuz of lost wages
