Statistically speaking, the VAST majority of people tweeting about a #GeneralStrike aren't even in a union. Everyone who tweets it needs to look at their own situation and assess what they can do with their own two hands to build to that sort of organization.
You don't get to skip the hard part! The part that involves talking with coworkers who may not think like you. Showing folks that asserting their dignity is worth the risk to their livelihood.
And I'm not even talking about the act of striking! That's just the risk inherent to organizing under our broken laws. Tweets in support of a #GeneralStrike are maddening because it illustrates just how much education needs to be done about the nuts and bolts of organizing.
A lot of the people tweeting #GeneralStrike are living in an internet fantasy world. The internet is not where politics happens. Twitter is a heatsink. You have to build real relationships with people in your workplace and the world or you're just a dupe!
