Pretty interesting data here from Clemson’s defense a few years back. Don’t see this breakdown often from teams; look how balanced it is with middle of the field open/closed, pressure vs. coverage, etc. Tough to know what you’re getting on offense
The coverages are balanced too. Brown (1 high man free), 3 and 3 robber) are middle of the field closed coverages, whereas Buffalo and Lock are basically quarters and quarter-quarter-half variations. Not wedded to one or the other.
The pressures are fun too. Lots of verbiage to learn but once you do they can throw a lot at an offense and mix and match
Venables makes a big deal about the focus on the mental side — “we will challenge you to learn scheme,” “don’t be a robot,” “we we want you to think along with us conceptually,” and heavy emphasis on pre-snap awareness. Well thought out stuff
