lrts- i have a couple of things to say. first being that from my experience, the number of ppl who signal boost and share stories and testimonies provided by trans men about their treatment in the lgbtq+ community is ridiculously lower than many other identities
when it just takes a solid 3 seconds to rt something, seeing a continual pattern like that isn't a coincidence. i shouldn't have to provide this observation, tbh. when trans men say they're not being heard, we all need to stop and listen
@ everyone who thinks trans men are inherently misogynistic... you do realize that misogyny works a lot like racism, right? just like racism, a big component of misogyny is the systems in place that reinforce anti-woman prejudice and prioritize cis men over them
the idea that trans men automatically get all "cis man privileges" is so dumb i genuinely am having a hard time breaking down the why
alright, here it is. society is split into two groups: the 'normal' and the 'other'. systems of oppression are designed to lift up the 'normal' group and keep the 'other' group oppressed and marginalized because the 'normal' group isn't special if everyone can achieve it
the 'other' group is considered less than the 'normal' group, and this generally gets reinforced by stereotypes, dangerous rhetoric, laws and policies that make it harder for the 'other' group to have a basic quality of life, etc.
so american society looks a bit like this:
race: white is 'normal', everything else is 'other'
gender: cis is 'normal', trans is 'other'
ability: abled is 'normal', disabled is 'other'
sexuality: het is 'normal', everything else is 'other'
notice that the gender breakdown here is not men vs. everyone else. bc all cis people are considered 'normal' regardless of our gender. women are viewed as less than and oppressed through misogyny but we're still considered part of the 'normal' group
so to bring this back around to the point of this thread, a trans man is still trans. they don't get cis man privileges at all and, as a cis woman, i still get more rights and get treated better than a trans man would. idk why this is so hard for lgbts to understand
