Melos and Bel both touch on this concept of leaving your fate to the divine and accepting the comfort of knowing you cannot change anything. leaving the control to a higher power. they both have a complicated relationship to worship and religion
They’re also either drawn to or based around the concept of complete lack of control and just... existing. Becoming a part of the pulse of the world and no longer being a person.
Elune had to intervene to stop Melos from throwing herself into N’Zoth’s maw because part of her so desperately wanted to let go and be scattered into a new existence where she doesn’t need to make choices, every choice is made for her, for the greater good of a Unity
It’s part of her subconscious because she hates being controlled - as a person. If she could just... not be a person anymore, however, that’s different. But part of her healing is moving away from this pull, and learning to love being a person instead.
Bel on the other hand IS that lack of control. Having your personhood stripped down to its bare bones until you’re nothing but a pile of muscles and instincts. No morals, no thoughts, driven only by a need to satiate your hunger.
She got better :)
She got better :)
Bel and Melos are both uhm.... obsessively religious? But Bel is blissfully so and Melos is miserably so. Bel knows her god loves her and she loves her god, and in certain AUs her faith is what drives her to do horrible horrible things for God
Meanwhile Melos has always balanced being a zealot of Elune while also despising Elune for not connecting to her. Part of her reaching this level of worship is the idea that if she only loved Elune a BIT more, Elune would love her back one day
