If I'd been caught up in this A Level disaster and not got into uni, I would never have tried again. No way I could afford to appeal. That would have been it. Confidence would have been smashed to smithereens. This needs sorting the fuck out. Students deserve better.
If you think 'I didn't do A Levels and look at me, I'm doing X Y Z" is helpful right now, it isn't. Don't say it. Sit down. Ditto "it could be worse". For some of these students, no, actually, it couldn't.
I met students who were escaping terrible situations by going to uni. Grit and perseverance is not going to help them, so shush
Promoted beyond their ability is one of the most sickening reasons I've heard for class war against teenagers ever. Christ, it's bordering on eugenics.
Listen to those who are trying to help, ring admissions and try and get a clearing place. It might not be a Russell Group/Red Brick but we know you worked hard and university will see that too.
Don't listen to these Bastards who think you are defined by your postcode. Please.
And the effort to get this reversed needs to come from Universities, Parliament, Teaching Unions and the students. Standing together. To mark students down fucking class violence and the response should reflect that.
