Inspired by @solarrsystem and @astro_jaz, here is the planets (and maybe some moons) as cats. (all images from pinterest)

Let’s start with Earth- the blue marble and this beautiful Bengal Cat

Orbiting Earth is The Moon- the only place in space we have set foot on- and we are going back! Hopefully by 2024, NASA will have stepped on the lunar surface once again with the #Artemis Mission

And another for the moon because wow 🤩
Next is Mars- the red planet currently inhabited by robots, slightly smaller than the earth.

And now on to Venus- Earth’s Evil twin enshrouded in a thick layer of sulphuric clouds

Jupiter- my favourite planet to observe, so big that it doesn’t orbit the sun- the sun and Jupiter orbit a point slightly above its surface called the barycenter! It’s known for its swirling storms and multitude of moons- I couldn’t decide which floof!
#ThePlanetsAsCats #Jupiter
One of Jupiter’s moons is #Europa, which has a subsurface ocean and crisscrossed with red channels!

Saturn- it’s rings are majestic, just like this beauty! It’s the second largest planet 🪐 and also has lots of moons, a few are astrobiologically interesting!
#ThePlanetsAsCats #SpaceCats @NASASolarSystem
One of these moons is Enceladus- like Europa it’s for an icy surface that is constantly replenished, making it the most reflective body in the solarsystem! It’s tiny, but has a subsurface ocean holding more water than all of Earths oceans!

And my favourite moon- Titan- also orbits Saturn 🪐. It’s the only moon with a significant atmosphere and has weather! Except instead of a water cycle, it’s lakes, rivers and clouds are liquid methane!

Neptune is a mysterious planet, visited only once, back in the 80s, by Voyager 2.
#CatsOfTwitter #ThePlanetsAsCats #SpaceCats #Neptune
Uranus is another blue ice giant- it’s thought the blue colour comes from methane in its atmosphere! Why it is paler than neptune is not fully understood.
#SpaceCats #ThePlanetsAsCats
Back to the inner planets is Mercury, the closest planet to the sun (though not the hottest- Venus’ CO2 atmosphere takes gold at 463C- 30 degrees more than Mercury! It looks dull and grey to the eye, but in false colour it’s full glory is revealed!

Of course I couldn’t miss out Pluto! Our first close up only came in 2015! And wow what a (dwarf) planet! Not a dead world, but with a swirling surface with many features. #Pluto #SpaceCats #ThePlanetsAsCats
Pluto’s largest moon is Charon, which is half Pluto’s size! This means that they orbit a point (the barycentre) above Pluto’s surface! Unexpectedly, Charon looks very different to pluto. #ThePlanetsAsCats #NASA #Pluto #Charon #SpaceCats
