Let& #39;s talk abt how amazing stadiums are for voting in a pandemic: They have ventilation. They are gigantic. Multiple polling stations can be set up. Hundreds of people can vote at once with no lines. There is parking for busses. There is cleaning staff. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/29656465/dodgers-lebron-james-team-make-dodger-stadium-polling-site">https://www.espn.com/mlb/story...
Truly! It& #39;s a really freaking good idea! They are often centrally located. There is often public transportation to them. They are staffed and that staff knows how to manage crowds and keep lines moving. They can also be trained as pollworkers. https://www.npr.org/2020/07/02/886566523/need-a-polling-place-with-social-distancing-3-nba-teams-offer-venues">https://www.npr.org/2020/07/0...
Stadium employees doing this work means that the dwindling numbers of poll workers can be sent elsewhere. These staff are generally younger and less at risk than other pollworkers. Stadiums are also, generally, ADA complaint.
There are *so many places* that can be used in this way: Concert venues. Reception halls. City auditoriums. Convention centers. All of them have pretty free calendars!
Anyway! sorry about all the tweets and exclamation marks but lets be honest everything else about covering voting right now really blows! I have to take the sun rays where I can catch them in between the furious clouds!
