[Thread, Part 3 - Response to those justifying Yaqeen's CVE collaboration]

1. Ibrahim Abdul-Saleem, Yaqeen collaborating with a leading CVE proponent that has the ex-CIA Deputy Director Michael Morell as its board member, cannot be explained or justified by false analogies. https://twitter.com/SyedIbrahim1137/status/1293283914702884864
2. You gave the example of Abdul-Qahir, who researched US militarism in Afghanistan and presented it to Western institutions, suggesting similarities to Yaqeen's work with CPOST.
3. Your essential argument is that since past/current Islamic groups 'work' with the US military, it would have been easy to criticise them at the time as Yaqeen is now being criticised for its work with CPOST, rendering such criticisms invalid.
4. Whilst life and death geo-political conditions may Islamically necessitate Muslims seeking outside support, often from US proxies.

Is this analogous to Muslims living in the West assuming the innocuous collaboration with CIA-linked organisations in the name of 'research'?
5. Asking pertinent questions may suggest stark differences between Abdul-Qahir and Yaqeen's research methods.

If anyone has links to this works, please provide it here, since there was nothing of note from searching online.
6. Firstly, did Abdul-Qahir conduct his research independently and without US influence? If so, presenting these to Western institutions should not be controversial, even if it was among some 'activist circles'.
7. @UK_CAGE is the best example of a Muslim organisation that honourably conducts research and presents it to Western institutions with grassroots support.

In fact, they do so without a bank account amid a persistent media and political smear-campaign.
8. Secondly, did Abdul-Qahir research involve working with academics linked to the CIA and US military?

This is relevant, because it is the only way one draws a legitimate analogy of Abdul-Qahir and Yaqeen, thereby giving your arguments some validity for further exploration.
9. There are reasons to worry that 'research collaborations' with CIA-linked organisations produce unintended consequences, where long-term harm outweighs any achievable good.

RAND Corp. recommendation for building relationships and networks of moderate Muslims is relevant here.
10. Is it not naive to collaborate with CPOST simply because Director Pape's domestic view is conveniently aligning to Muslims, but then disregard his long-held deadly militaristic position of "securing US interests"?

Here is a reminder of his long-held deadly view.
11. Similarly, how is collaborating with a CIA-linked CVE proponents on matters of security any different from collaborating with, say, Douglas Murray and his team at The Henry Jackson Society on Social Cohesion, or Maajid Nawaz and his team at Quilliam on Uighur persecution?
12. In fact, some would argue that collaborating with CPOST is considerably worse precisely because of its direct CIA and military associations.
14. It is utterly naive to not see how the CIA gains the most strategic advantage in this power dynamic, and that working with Islamic organisations may be part of their strategic aims for pacifying CVE course, among their other stated aims.
15. You may argue that Yaqeen are nonetheless presenting 'the Muslim case' in this collaboration.

But there are far better ways to present the Muslim case than betraying ethical lines and having a direct line to the CIA.
16. Consider the idea of mainstream Muslim institutions normalising and setting precedents for aiding the CIA in the name of 'research and understanding'.
17. Consider the prospect of the CIA using such 'research collaborations' as means to improving their methods in reaching their overall geo-political objectives "to secure their interests overseas", as said by Pape.
18. Consider for a moment that Yaqeen's 'research collaboration' may have helped to refine US understanding of Islamic value systems, and yet bear no impact on the Director Pape's military strategy in the Muslim World.
19. One asks, how strategically advantageous is Yaqeen's collaboration with CPOST/CVE for itself when alternative research avenues are open.

And what about the long-term interests of Muslims when CPOST officially advocates for deadlier "off-shore balancing" form of militarism?
20. There is nothing stopping Muslims researching critical matters of security, extremism, and terrorism.

Compared to @UK_CAGE , who robustly and with defined lines approach these sensitive matters, Yaqeen's approach is far cosier and undermines Muslims in the long term.
21. Yaqeen's collaboration with a CIA-linked and military-funded organisation is a choice among many alternatives, not compelled by death. Therefore, their criticism is entirely valid.
22. And the CVE rabbit hole may go deeper.

Yaqeen's close links to CVE is found in their current Director of Research Operations, a seeming protégé of CPOST Director Robert Pape.

Here is Julio Rivera standing behind the ex-CIA Dep. Director Michael Morrel in 2016.
23. As tweeted by CPOST, they cultivate #thenextgeneration
24. Whilst Julio Rivera is revert Muslim, and there's no insinuation to his intentions or sincerity, Yaqeen's willingness to hire anyone with such deep roots to the military and counter-intelligence speaks to its worrying trajectory mentioned in Part 1.
