Welcome to the White House Daily Press Shadow Briefing. We apologize for our missing the last briefing, internet in rural Maine is at times challenging. But we're back and the truth will come out. So let's get right to questions.
2. The President has written a memorandum to give five States, 100% of reimbursement for the National Guard costs dealing with coronavirus. A number of governors are trying to get on that was too, including Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak. Have you had a chance to set up a time for
3. them to talk? And the National Governors Association says that the criteria for being one of those States, it gets 100% not 75%, aren’t clear
Can you tell me how do you make the cut? Where you’re 100% not 75%? A. Those decisions will be based on loyalty to the President and
4. battleground states. It's an election season you know and you know how much @realDonaldTrump likes to own the libs. Q. Question about payroll tax and the Presidents comments yesterday. What did he mean when he said he was going to terminate the payroll tax? And a secondary
5. Question about payroll tax and the Presidents comments yesterday. What did he mean when he said he was going to terminate the payroll tax? And a secondary question. A. Let me be honest with you. The Republican party has been trying to get rid of social security since it was
6. created. @potus was the first to realize that he could use the pandemic as an excuse. He has no intention of funding the program after he takes away the revenue from the payroll tax. And, of course, all of this will happen after election day. Pretty crafty huh?
7. Q. In the long term though, does he think that the payroll tax should go away? A. In the long term he thinks social security should be abolished. This is just a means to an end. Q. You’ve voted by the US mail. The president has voted by the US mail. Many of his top people
8. have voted [inaudible 00:00:52]. Why is he trying to prevent ordinary Americans from voting by mail? A. Because if everyone gets to vote he will lose by a landslide. You've seen the polls haven't you. He wants to keep people from voting so he can win. Got it?
9. Q. we learned today that still roughly 15 and a half million Americans are without a job. Nancy Pelosi spoke yesterday with the treasury secretary. Seemingly, there was no progress on that call. For the 15 and a half million Americans and millions others, who could absolutely
10. care less about the politics of it all, what would you tell them is coming next, considering that it seems as if nothing is moving, policy-wise going forward? A. The President is not against giving people money. But as he said earlier today his highest priority is to make
11. the Postal Service can't deliver the ballots. Winning comes first, having a job and being to put food on the table comes after. Q. There are some conservatives who have made the argument that, three trillion dollars, give or take, has already been spent and no more needs to
12. be spent. If there isn’t a deal that is viable, is the White House of the position that, since three trillion has been spent, it’s okay, we don’t need to spend anymore? A. The stock market is great, so we probably don't need to spend anymore. But he'll spend it if it gets
13. more votes. But the redline is no money for the postal service. That ensures the right to screw the middle class after the election. Q. Has the president been briefed on the Russian coronavirus vaccine? Does he think it’s a workable vaccine?
14. A. Of course he was briefed, Vlad called him first thing. There is reason to believe its workable since @realDonaldTrump gave Vlad all of our data. Q. Going back to Iran and Russia, as geopolitical actors in the middle East, [inaudible 00:39:20] wellsprings of instability
15 there, as we discussed. But how confident is this White House that Iran and Russia are finally going to be placed in their respective lanes, in the advent of this deal and deals to come? A. Well, our lane is Russia's lane so no problema.
16. Does the president share former Vice President Biden’s view would virtually end any chance at a two-state solution that would secure Israel’s future as a Jewish and Democratic state, and uphold the right of Palestinians to ?A. That's an easy one.
17. The President is always against anything Biden is for and anything that's thoughtful. So no, he doesn't agree with Biden. Q. Was the president aware about these 2000 letters between him and Chairman Kim that apparently are going to be published in the new Bob Woodward book?
18. Did he sign off on that? A. The President is horrified by this. He said it's like someone reading his diary. He's terrified that his love of Kim will make him look weak or worse. He did give it to Woodward, but he didn't think he'd use it.
19. Q. Will the president’s executive order on WeChat block Apple from distributing the app on their platform? And if so, what does the administration say about concerns that it could be kneecapping an American company, and diminishing its competitiveness? A. The President is
20. committed to helping Tim Apple, but i don't want to get out front on this. I usually have a drop the mic speech to give here, but i'm tired and this job is getting boring. So just all of you get out of my room.
