[ HOW I MAINTAINED A 4.0 GPA WITH MY EATING DISORDER AT ITS WORST ] — a thread

p.s - i missed around two months of school bc i kept landing in the hospital & despite that i managed to keep up in 4 AP and 2 AS classes with minimal at home revision
basically, fuck the education system and its broken structural form of education.

use the time IN SCHOOL to learn the way that’s best for YOU, make your notes the way YOU learn best from them, condense and organise them properly —
— so when exams roll around, all your review materials will be ready in a form that BENEFITS you and practicing will be easier.
1. MORNINGS

bring a tumbler of tea sweetened w/ sugar w/ u to school & drink it throughout the morning while it’s still warm, the sugar will wake you up and you’ll feel less groggy

( i used to put two spoonfuls [ 8g ] in a tumbler of 500ml )
2. MATERIALS

have a different notebook for every class & use binder(s) for any papers you receive in classes, notes & past exam papers.

use a colour system for all your classes ( like blue for math, yellow for history etc ) for highlighters
2. ASK UR TEACHERS

ask your teachers what’ll be taught in the coming weeks & when the tests are. take note of them.

my school always had pacing charts & exam topics available on their student portal
3. DONT FOCUS ON CLASS

bear with me on this one, dont focus on how the teacher is teaching, focus on learning in your own way, use your own system of learning.

i used to take note of what the teacher wanted to do in class & complete them at my own pace / order
4. CREATE A NOTES SYSTEM

pretty self explanatory, ties in with #3. use class time to take notes in a way you’ll understand.

for math i used to write formulae in diff. colours before solving & would explain things to myself in a way i understood in eng/hist. highlighters <3
5. CREATE A “CHEAT SHEET” OUT OF UR NOTES

condense your notes on a topic into a single page as if you’d be able to take this paper into the exam with you ( e.g formulae for math / dates & names for hist / literary devices for eng )

**DONT** THROW THESE OUT
6. ASK FOR HELP

once class is over, before the exams! ask your teachers topics you dont understand.

pull out your “cheat-sheet”! your teachers will help you refine them & point out things you might have missed.
7. PAST EXAM PAPERS

ask around your upperclassmen if they have their old exam papers!

exams are mostly always written in the same way every year, if you can find past papers then you’ll have a good idea on how the exam will be structured at least.
8. REVIEW YOUR NOTES

after getting your graded papers back, check what you did wrong and take note of your mistakes.

keep all the past exam papers you receive in a binder.
9. FINALS TIME

by now you should have a binder of cheat-sheets, papers youve received in class, and past exam papers to review

check back on your cheat sheets & the exam papers, what has been tested? what did you miss in the exams before? what are u unsure of ? practice those
9. FINALS TIME [ CONT. ]

snack. on. a. small. amount. of. fruit. every. hour.

low in calories high in sugar content and electrolytes, best snacks for extended hours of studying.

DRINK YOUR WATER TOO. I SWEAR TO GOD
