Access Control Lists (ACLs) is such a fundamental of network security because they watch traffic as it comes and goes on our networks and decides based upon a set of rules if the info we’re getting or sending is sensational or belongs to the streets 😂😂😂
ACLs should actually sound like something else we’ve already talked about (stateless firewalls)! 👀

We can create ACLs for just about ANY networking device with a wide range of rules based on the criteria WE decide.
We use an ACLs to provide SAFETY. Would you just leave your door open for whoever to walk in and out? No you would not so why do that for your network?

The point of an ACL is to have CONTROL over who and what has access to your network.
If an ACL is like a lock on a door and you have SO many doors in your house - where would be the smartest place to put it?
If you chose your front door - you’re thinking like a security pro! 💕🍾 We should place an ACL on the outskirts! Like where your internet is.

Placing an ACL here acts like your front door - only allowing those you trust entry and access.
Access Control Lists like almost everything in networking vary in type and with good reason.

You wouldn’t want your lock on your outside door to be the same for ALL doors. That’s silly!

We always always want to use what’s best for OUR network. They are unique 💕💻
That’s it for the very very basic chit chat on ACLs - we’ll dive deeper into ACLs & Firewalls next month when we head into “Securing September” which you can read more about by visiting here http://cybercimone.com  💻💕
