I dunno. If shaming people into voting actually worked, we probably wouldn’t be in this fuckshit situation.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m gonna vote despite not feeling great about our dem candidate. BUT. I understand why some (especially Black ppl) have decided to sit this one out. I just don’t think yelling at one another on twitter is changing any minds. It’s an all around shit situation.
I don’t say this because I have a solution. I wish I did. I say it because I’m feeling sad & disappointed that this is where we’re at.
I think for many Black folks the issue is that Biden’s many shortcomings aren’t going to disappear if he’s elected. Which is true. Sitting out isn’t the choice I’d make for myself but i’m trying to understand where ppl are coming from in hopes of finding solutions where possible https://twitter.com/r0zzyb0wden/status/1293989292788740097
Also, lemme say I really appreciate the way y’all are engaging in this convo right now. Cause it’s not easy & nuance is really hard on here.
This thread from @queersocialism was very eye opening for me when approaching this topic. Worth a read if you’re open to hearing another perspective on voting https://twitter.com/elusoryanomaly/status/1293995875786788865
Ok maybe I complimented y’all too soon. lol seems a lot of ppl are misunderstanding what I’m saying here. I know the circumstances are dire. Shit is BLEAK out here. What I’m saying is I don’t believe “hold your nose & vote” is inspiring anyone who’s already made their mind up.
