a lot of people clearly have no idea how sex trafficking + human trafficking + assaults against children actually occur and like it’s okay to not know because people don’t talk about it but holy shit stop getting your info from facebook posts
i know y’all have good intentions but your good intentions would better serve the cause if you had accurate information
i learned about the inner workings of human trafficking + assaults by pedophiles in my undergrad courses so i don’t have the exact sources i learned from but i’ll try to find and post stuff here
trafficking isn’t big secret organizations kidnapping kids and sneaking them from bunker to bunker (although i’m sure there are some trafficking organizations like this), in reality trafficking is much more mundane
it’s parents selling their kids and teens/young adults with low self esteem being coerced by “friends” and it’s undocumented immigrants being exploited by their employers
when we’re busy looking for these “underground networks of pedophiles who are stealing *OUR* children” we miss our next door neighbor selling their child to random grown men or the pedophile grandfather assaulting their grandchild or the teen daughter being coerced
so ya save the children but y’all are looking in the wrong place
sorry i’m usually a fan of conspiracy theories but this one is harmful to actual trafficking victims and i’m just literally so tired of seeing people i know fall victim to this rhetoric that is based on extremist right wing ideology that relies largely on anti semitism
