I can’t stop thinking about this movie I saw- it so powerfully yet sensitively tackles the subject of rape by coercion, something that is seldom talked about even within survivor activism communities. It’s called Tape, & here is the trailer: (see next tweet for links to watch)
This movie is based on my incredibly brave & compassionate friend @AnnarosaMudd ‘s own story as a survivor & she stars in it as well alongside @isabellefuhrman & both of their performances brought so much light to this deeply important issue. I’ve watched it three times already
I know what it feels like to have an untold story & the hole that burned inside of me for over a decade. I know so many survivors of rape by coercion whose stories are never heard because the world still takes this kind of crime less seriously than other assault & that’s not ok.
They have a twitter account @TAPEtheMovie & an Instagram account which is http://Instagram.com/tape_themovie  & a Facebook as well which is http://Facebook.com/tapethemovie
In my almost 9 years as an advocate, I’ve never met anyone as scared to tell their stories as victims of rape by coercion. The shame & victim blaming that the world burdens survivors with is amplified for victims of this type of sexual assault. But #CoercionIsNotConsent
It’s SO important to support survivors sharing their stories & my life has been forever changed by the support you guys have shown me after I shared my own story❤️ Please go support @AnnarosaMudd & everyone else involved with this powerful film & let me know if you watch it too✊🏼
