The exam results scandal IS going to radicalise young people - but that means little if there are no structures reach to channel that into action. I know we’re all exhausted, but we need to get serious about organising sustainably and strategically. 1/
We are going to lose battles, we are going to get burnt out and lose faith - acknowledge that. Plan for it. Building power means building networks that are self-sustaining - upskilling and learning from new members, devolving power and trusting them to make decisions, 2/
If your network can’t function without you, you aren’t building collective power - you’re firefighting on shaky foundations. I know this because I’ve learnt the hard way, and reform is slow and painful. But we have to do it. The alternative is inefficient and time-bound. 3/
Whether it’s trade unionism, anti-racism, mutual aid, liberation struggles, green activism or provision networks - devolve power, decentralise, step back when you’re tired. You can’t afford to put yourself out of the fight for life for the sake of a few manic years. 4/
I know we’re tired, and it feels like it is all on your shoulders and dangerous to hand over the reins. But the only power that can last is in the collective - not in you. And we need that power: if there’s one thing these kids won’t have, it’s faith in elected politicians. 5/5
*ready ffs
