it is not a splashy narrative device, it is not ~scandalous~, it is a totally banal and totally common thing that happens every day, all the time, and we’ll never actually fix the conditions that lead to it if we don’t acknowledge that
it’s not just a thing that “monstrous” people do, it’s a thing that people you sometimes love do. that’s PART OF WHY IT HAPPENS, OFTEN. because you trust someone, because you don’t think you can say no, because you say no and they don’t care
