I have never blocked anyone in my life, so I am going to give @DenLeonard one chance to take back this unbelievable libel. First, in what way have I ever "lied" about TB? All my research is published in top-quality peer-reviewed journals. https://twitter.com/DenLeonard/status/1293950877468893186
All of scientists' professional work is centred on evidence: gathering, collating, analysing, and interpreting data. For a scientist, "lying" is professionally unforgivable. I would wish @DenLeonard to provide *evidence* of this allegation of me "lying" or retract his statement.
Second, how is the spread of TB north and east my fault? I am not and never have been responsible for TB policy. How could a scientist cause TB to spread? My science helped to bring to an end small-scale culling which was shown to cause TB spread in space.
Third, how is anything I do professionally "political"? I have briefed parliamentarians of all political colours. What evidence does @DenLeonard have of political bias?
Fourth... corrupt? What evidence is there that I am "corrupt"? How am I gaining personally from TB? Every scientific paper I write requires a statement on conflict of interest. I have received research funding from Defra; but I don't see a penny of that money
Research funding gets spent on things like tracking collars and field vehicles and field tech salaries - the lead researchers don't get to keep it.
Nobody - quite rightly - pretends that vets want to perpetuate TB because their businesses make a profit from TB testing cattle. Of course they don't - it would be an unforgivable insult to vets' professionalism.
Scientists make no such profit, but are constantly accused of profiting from TB. I just don't understand it.
Perhaps @DenLeonard can provide evidence of some other form of my "corruption" which I haven't thought of.
So, @DenLeonard, please either (i) provide evidence to substantiate what I consider to be a libellous claim, or (ii) publicly apologise to me. If not I will block and report you.
