yeah it certainly doesnt feel Awesome when ppl brush off asian cultural appropriation but theres a very salient point i think a lot of asian americans miss out on-
the anti-blackness and violence that is so pervasive in our communities far outweighs any damage done by a black person’s aesthetic choices
like yeah cultural appropriation is still appropriation but its not a good look when more people in our community devote their time and energy into policing black people’s aesthetic choices rather than crucially examining-
and condeming the violence and prejudice committed by our friends, families, and other members of our close cultural circles.
idk it feels ridiculous to pretend that anti-blackness in asian communities and black ppl adopting certain aspects of our cultural aesthetic have even remotely comparable ramifications/importance... like clearly one deserves more attention than the other and its not the latter ..
