Dear @HeathMayo, Your Post Office tweet inspired me to invite friends on FB to name what the @USPS does for us. I started with delivering medicines and checks to people who need them on time.

Here's what else I got. /1
Equitable access to service
Delivers letters to all who don't have a computer /2
Last mile delivery. It is responsible for the delivery service to all, regardless if it is center city or 50 miles from nowhere. Other services hand off their packages to USPS who must deliver on profit costing routes. /3
It enables us to send gifts to family and friends afar.

It's an employer of people, many of whom are veterans.

I know some people that are happy it delivers hair color! /4
over 25 % of us does not have internet access. More do not use online banking or automatic bill paying and they depend on the post office for timely delivery of payments, personal correspondence, etc.
/5
It's essential for those who still get Netflix on DVD rather than streaming. (BTW, I haven't had mail delivery in a week, only packages, and complaints are going unresponded to.)
/6
So that our military on duty can VOTE!!

Money orders!

Urban mail delivery door to door that does not require a working person to be at home. The delivery person is most often a neighbor as well. Wait, this works in rural areas, too. /7
Why do we put a higher standard for the postal service being self- sustainable than we do other govt agencies... like hey - the pentagon and the dept of defense? It’s a service that benefits ALL. And when did supporting the post office become political anyway? /8
Cards to shut-ins

It seamlessly (until recently) transfers mail to its counterparts in other countries around the world. /9
mail in donations to my non-profit. many individuals, churches, businesses, foundations and government organizations still give by check using direct mail. we receive a significant amount of financial gifts by mail every day. /10
If I don’t have access to high speed internet or don’t have a computer, I am still connected to the world via USPS. Thank you, Lord... /11
It’s the most cost effective way for many small businesses to expand their sales outside their local area. It also helps people maintain a physical connection with distant friends and family particularly during the current pandemic.
/12
Some folks are not receiving their meds in a timely fashion
/13
Things we to often take for granted -- Staying in touch with family via written notes and cards on the celebration of birthdays, anniversaries, holidays illnesses and times of death along with notices of up coming family events. such as wedding invitations among many others. /14
It acts as a banking system in lower economic neighborhoods- money orders can be purchased and cashed at a post office.
/15
*Reaches rural communities that would see little or no service commercial mail cariers
*Serves as a source for money orders for unbanked working people. /16
A properly functioning USPS assures us our bill payments will be made on time thereby avoiding any penalties.
