PSA and TW/CW: addition/overdose

yesterday at about 630pm Jon and I were biking down Garry when we saw a group of about 10 people, clearly in distress. we rushed over and found a man and a woman unconscious. we learned that they were overdosing. a group of their friends 1/
surrounded them, one was performing cpr on the woman, another one was on the phone with 911, others were trying to help, all of them were on drugs. Jon ended up performing compressions on the woman and we managed to flag down a cop, who continued the compressions and

eventually administered narcan. I absolutely thought they were both gone, but thankfully, the narcan brought them both back to life. if it wasn't for their friends trying to help, and the chain of reaction that led to narcan, I believe they wouldn't have made it. this morning

I learned you can get narcan at any pharmacy over the counter, you just need to call first to make sure they have some. we have a naloxone kit that we unfortunately didn't bring with us, but the needle is more difficult to administer than narcan. narcan is a nasal spray that

you can administer to someone who is overdosing on opioids, as long as they are breathing and their airways are clear. this is something I will begin carrying on my bike and I highly recommend you do too.
