I want to share more about how I approach exchange investing & the resources I use to track the industry. I& #39;ll split this into 4 topics below:

1) Filings
2) Volumes (2 pts)
3) News
4) Social

FILINGS:

As with most stocks, nothing beats the old-fashioned way: reading Ks, Qs, and earnings results in detail.

I use Seeking Alpha to read earnings call transcripts (Q&A is most important).

Look at results relative to guidance and changes to the forward outlook.
VOLUMES:

The primary drivers of exchange performance are volumes & data growth. The volume piece can be tracked monthly (even daily) via each exchange& #39;s website.

CME: http://investor.cmegroup.com/volume

ICE:">https://investor.cmegroup.com/volume&qu... https://ir.theice.com/investor-resources/supplemental-information/default.aspx

CBOE:">https://ir.theice.com/investor-... http://www.cboe.com/data/cboe-holdings-monthly-volume-rpc-reports">https://www.cboe.com/data/cboe...
NEWS: It& #39;s critical to filter out as much noise as possible when consuming news, and exchanges are no different.

I use Finviz& #39;s Portfolio tool - create a free account and add stocks to your watchlist. All news from those stocks will show up in a clean, easy to read feed:
To summarize:

1) You& #39;d be surprised how much info is in each exchange& #39;s 10-K. Read them.

2) Track volumes at least monthly. Exchanges trade on volumes.

3) Very few pieces of news will truly impact the stock.

4) Debate your ideas with others. You& #39;ll become a better investor.
