A serious follow up question for the Pew Research study should’ve been: “how prominent are LGBT Latinxs in your everyday life?” https://twitter.com/xoxorubenangel/status/1293938946599038976

Cuz “do you use Latinx?” as a stand alone question is ass without context as to why the term exists. We still live in a machista culture, so that absolutely affects people’s willingness to adopt any kind of inclusivity, be it using Latine, Latinx, or just simply being tolerant.

And that really gets to the root of the problem: who gives a flying fuck if you use “Latinx/Latino/Latine” when you’re still transphobic and homophobic, and when LGBT folks aren’t welcomed in your community.
