There is this ignorant take out there that Steph Curry only has success because he got carried by an supercharged team.
I’ve thought from time to time about doing a rebuttal by breaking down the GSW 2013 Playoffs, but I have always decided not to, for specific reasons. /thread https://twitter.com/hilltopnba/status/1293737738823335936

See, it is really hard to do a study like that without having it taken as “SEE STEPH HAD NO HELP TOO”. Which is completely wrong and insulting to all players.
In fact, Jarrett Jack was important, Carl Landry made contributions, a young Klay and Harrison Barnes hit big shots.

And I would rather appreciate how that team came together and played their butts off, and appreciate how well Steph played to keep the O running and give that team knockout power.
And how GSW pulled off one upset and then almost pulled off a bigger upset of the hated Spurs.

In fact, Steph did need his team. Obviously.
The real fail of the “Steph gets carried, my fave doesn’t” is the complete ignorance of how your fave got carried too, like every star.
Sometimes it’s really obvious, like when LeBron gets two rings on Ray Allen and Kyrie’s shots

Then there’s the sacrifices that other stars make to do what’s best for the team, to amplify LeBron/Russ/Harden/etc. Bosh, Wade, Love, Kyrie for LeBron, CP3 and Russ for Harden, PG13 for Russ. Pippen for Jordan. Pau, Odom for Kobe. Kobe for Shaq. Etc.
Then there are all the other guys who practice hard, do the dirty work on-court, keep the team together, and are stars in their roles, giving up shots, touches and stats, knowing that most fans won’t notice and they’ll get called No Help, but they do it for the team good.
So I’ll probably do that 2013 breakdown someday, but I hope it will be to raise up to the light all the great things done by Steph and many others, not to throw mud on the rest of the team to raise up Steph.
