There's political education work that has to consistently be done explaining how 'just vote' and 'lesser evil' compromises are what got us to Trump in the first place. Things can still get worse.
There's political education work that has to be done explaining how shared identity is an easy way to dupe and manipulate voters into supporting candidates they shouldn't.
There's political education work that has to be done explaining how much worse things are going to get if people don't stop compromising themselves every cycle for increasingly terrible candidates.
There's political education work that has to be done explaining the reality of the voting system in the USA (what it actually is and what it isn't) so people don't imagine outcomes of their efforts that don't really exist.
There's political education work that has to be done explaining why it's always a bad idea to continually *react* from a place of desperation instead of *organizing* from a place of proactivity.
There's political education work that has to be done explaining how liberal politics will never liberate or free people. It's radical politics or keep voting and compromising until the most unimaginably terrible scenarios (worse than now) are at our doors.
If 'just vote' and 'lesser evil' compromise were effective we would not be in the situation we're in. If a change is not made now it *will* get worse. That is something that can be guaranteed by the cycle voters are playing into.
The more you compromise for increasingly terrible politicians, the more things shift right. You don't have to keep lesser-eviling into worse situations that will make the mess we're in now look ideal down the road. You can say no and work to challenge all this.
Many people make the electoral college into something it's not. They ignore systemic barriers in place for Black voters. Demands to increase voter turnout don't address this. Neither does 'vote and then hold their feet to the fire.' People *must* think bigger than voting or else.
If you think 'just vote' and 'lesser evil' are solutions to the problems you're facing, then that probably explains how you ended up rationalizing voting for candidates who helped create the problems you're facing. Things can only get worse this way.
Thank you to the radical organizers, rebels, and educators that are working hard to try to pull people out of this cycle. Thank you for not encouraging nonsense. There's much political education work to be done. It's crucial because what's happening is very, very bad.
We wrote this years ago to address what's happening now and things have only gotten worse since then. Reconsider 'lesser evil' compromise. https://twitter.com/williamcson/status/848903018254921728?s=20
