I've thought of QAnon reporting as a sort of train that keeps adding cars. The conductor is that internet guy in your newsroom who was screaming about it two years ago, often to confused colleagues. Now there's a caboose just catching on. https://twitter.com/kevinroose/status/1293929993995599873
Journalists in 2018 to journalists in 2020 just taking QAnon seriously for the first time
anyway, what worries me NOW and for the next three months is all the Johnny Come Latelys running into this reporting like the Kool-aid man after everyone else spent the last two years carefully doing this reporting and finding smart ways to report but not amplify
anyway, folks just joining from the caboose should make some time to listen to the conductor's announcements, pop by the library car to read up a bit.
If you are indeed just learning about QAnon or just beginning to have to take it seriously in your reporting, find the person or people in your newsroom who've been doing this work already and LISTEN TO THEM. Do not go this alone. You will fuck it up.
i imagine this is how anti-vaxx and climate reporters have felt frequently over the last few years.
