THIS is the real news: In exchange for normalization with the United Arab Emirates, Israel commits not to annexing any of the West Bank. Bibi climbs down from a tree it never seemed like he really wanted to be in. https://twitter.com/LahavHarkov/status/1293924091213250564
Here are my hot takes for you on the Israel-UAE agreement:

-Recognition of Israel's right to exist is 72 years overdue for many countries and it's good when any of them get over this hang-up
-Annexation was a terrible idea and injustice, and taking if off the table is a huge win
-This does nothing on the Palestinian front in the short run
-But in the long run, the more Arab states and peoples have relationships with Israel and Israelis, the more they will be able to influence them, which will be good for the Palestinians, whose cause they care about https://twitter.com/Yair_Rosenberg/status/1293925318558912513
For decades, the Arab approach to Israel has been to literally deny its right to exist and spread anti-Semitic propaganda about it. Unsurprisingly, this failed to influence Israelis. Opening up and establishing tourist, trade, personal and government ties will change this. https://twitter.com/Yair_Rosenberg/status/1293926271894814720
Also, as Netanyahu punts the settler right's football on annexation yet again, the winner once more is his biographer @AnshelPfeffer, who called this when everyone else thought otherwise: https://www.haaretz.com/israel-news/.premium-there-will-be-lots-of-annexation-talk-from-netanyahu-but-no-action-1.8826440
