The Umbrella Academy is fun, but it's just like being in a "chaotic stupid" role-playing campaign with a group of adult role players ... (1/)
Luther: Inexperienced role player, under-developed generic fighter character, never picks up the plot threads DM offers him, just follows party along commenting once in a while and punching things.
Allison: has no concept of alignment. DM has crush on player and gives her world-breaking powers, NPC love interests, way too much backstory. She responds by using powers totally randomly.
Diego: Generic "edgelord" Batman-type player has been using since middle school. Actively ignores DM's plot hints and assumes all problems are solved by killing everything in his path.
Klaus: Player gets too ripped during sessions. Character becomes useless from a campaign setting, other players keep him around for the funny asides.
Ben: player only shows up for about 1 campaign session out of 4, so the other players just pilot his character around. Every once in a while players ask "Is Ben here?" and DM says "sure" and lets him role initiative in battle.
Vanya: Player not-so-secretly thinks they are too mature for RPGs, only doing it to keep adult friend group together, is distracted/on phone during sessions, has no sense that the fantasy realm has different rules/values than 2010s America.
Five: lifelong RPG player (hence manboy tendencies). Only one fully invested in the campaign setting and paying careful attention to the plot. Has become a not-so-low-key dick to everyone else as a result.
