It’s impossible for Trump to BS his way out of the COVID induced economic crisis, so it’s hard to believe that Trump could prevail in the fall. What we face in the fall is a return to the tea party obstructionism without the benefit of 60 vote majority in the senate.

Don’t know how Kamala helps with that. I mean the inspirational story does not really move anyone outside of party activist and affluent professionals. The pick just shows the party still thinks their path to success run through affluent suburban voters (white or otherwise).

The realpolitik math suggests that this strategy’s potential peaked in 2008. In 2020 the best we can hope for is a slim majority. Given the economic catastrophe we are experiencing, one would hope that the Democrats would stop being allergic to bold action.

Frankly, if Amy Klobuchar had not been directly involved in the George Floyd murder, she would have been the pick and we wouldn’t even have the inspirational story to justify the timidity.
