#TechnicalThursday and on today’s lesson we speak about a culture in motoring. Today We speak all things related to Stance and LowLifehttps://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="✨" title="Funken" aria-label="Emoji: Funken">
The word “Stance” refers to how a car is sitsrelative to the ground. A lifted Jeep or Van is still a form of Stance l, it is not limited to cars going lower. But today my chat is going to be about going lower, “Low Life”
From a perspective of performance, a lower and stiffer suspension will provide better handling as the center of gravity will be moved lower and closer to the ground. Less body roll and a lot more handling proshttps://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="✨" title="Funken" aria-label="Emoji: Funken">
There’s different ways to go lower, I’ll start with the category you should highly avoid, no matter how cheap it may be.
“Spring Altering”(Static), this I would say refers to anything a person does to the springs affecting the integrity and spring rate and height. The chopping of Springs, or use of spring clamps, or heat treating the springs, will all give you a lower ride height but are all ......
extremely unsafe and I highly do not recommend as the rest of the suspension components are not in harmony with the springs new qualities, these cars are known for having a very bouncy Ride.https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="🟥" title="Rotes Quadrat" aria-label="Emoji: Rotes Quadrat">https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="🟥" title="Rotes Quadrat" aria-label="Emoji: Rotes Quadrat">https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="🟥" title="Rotes Quadrat" aria-label="Emoji: Rotes Quadrat">
The second category, lowered spring and shock absorber combo(Static). This is a height preset that allows you to lower the car at a more safer setup it is only unfortunate the ride height is non-adjustable. Otherwise this is a solid setup. https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="🟧" title="Orangefarbenes Quadrat" aria-label="Emoji: Orangefarbenes Quadrat">https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="🟧" title="Orangefarbenes Quadrat" aria-label="Emoji: Orangefarbenes Quadrat">https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="🟧" title="Orangefarbenes Quadrat" aria-label="Emoji: Orangefarbenes Quadrat">
The third is the “coilover” combo(static). This is the only ride adjustable static suspension one could get, from a performance perspective this can give you the best results. The ride height is fully adjustable although requires a lot of effort, measurements and repetition to...
accomplish the perfect ride heightyou are looking for these are also the most expensive Static setup available on the market.https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="🟩" title="Grünes Quadrat" aria-label="Emoji: Grünes Quadrat">https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="🟩" title="Grünes Quadrat" aria-label="Emoji: Grünes Quadrat">https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="🟩" title="Grünes Quadrat" aria-label="Emoji: Grünes Quadrat">
The last is “Air Ride” also know as Bagged, or Bags. This is a suspension setup which uses air bags which can adapt and be height adjusted all at the comfort of a button or by the command of ride height sensors. The bags are filled with compressed air from ....
A tank usually found in the boot, it usually has a compressor and actuators to control air in the bags ultimately controlling ride height, this is the most expensive setup, but is money well spent as it’s the most comfortable ride you could get and the ease of adjustment.https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="🟩" title="Grünes Quadrat" aria-label="Emoji: Grünes Quadrat">https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="🟩" title="Grünes Quadrat" aria-label="Emoji: Grünes Quadrat">https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="🟩" title="Grünes Quadrat" aria-label="Emoji: Grünes Quadrat">
“Bags vs Static”, this is a big argument in the Stance world so before you pick a side let me give my opinions. Bags are the easy way out to get your fitment, they come with the easy way out price tag as well. With Bags you can never really get the “Perfect fitment” .
With the Static setups they are a lot more labour intensive and more difficult to live with in terms of adjusting your height for the fitment you need at any moment, but they are more fun and allow you to get greasy with your carhttps://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="❤️" title="Rotes Herz" aria-label="Emoji: Rotes Herz">
Camber, is a little side topic to Stance, specific levels of negative camber are good but too much camber is pointless and horrible not really my taste here’s some camber pics (1-No camber) (2-nice/good camber) (3-terrible idea)
