This is a tweet to announce that I am officially on the job market.

I am a scholar of language, race, and identity in institutional contexts (one of which is classroom spaces).

I will defend my dissertation in April of 2021! #hireme
My dissertation, "Spanish people be like: Dominican ethno-raciolinguistic stancetaking and the construction of Afro-Latinidad" is an interdisciplinary exploration of ethno-racial boundaries of difference.

Blackness and Latinidad are not mutually exclusive!
I am an interdisciplinary scholar: A trained linguist who uses theories and methods developed in anthropology, sociology, education, and most importantly critical Black and Latinx Studies.
My forthcoming publication in Language, "Beyond Position Statements" calls for substantive changes to the field of linguistics that would allow for actively anti-racist scholarship.

Social justice and anti-racism thread through my publications.
I have been a teacher and administrator at the High School level in the United States and abroad.

I've taught Spanish language, ESL, and Race and Language courses. I've TA'd for sociology, linguistics, and undergraduate development.

In my (De)constructing Afro-Latinidades course, I focus on how language ideologies form our understandings of self and others. I do so through an exploration of the colonial formations of power that have shaped the Americas since 1492.
I have a heavy record of mentorship and in my free time, I enjoy speaking with my former high school students, painting, sewing, public speaking, swimming in any body of water, and some serious living room dance sessions.
These are just a few things about me.
