So, Universities will be teaching mostly online this year, and yet I haven't seen a single person explain why on EARTH you couldn't just offer University lectures to everyone for free if the cost is the same???

Make it make sense.
I'm old enough to remember how 20 years ago people were predicting a "digital revolution" because it costs the same to make 1 copy of a PDF than to make 1,000.

Instead of a revolution, what we get is Amazon kindle files you cannot share with anyone.
As Douglas Rushkoff says, we are trying to use an 18th century operating system (the economy) in a 21st century world.

There is no reason to not have everything open software and open teaching. Instead, we have artificial gatekeeping and unworthy degrees.
