On Jan 21 the newly elected President will have a lot on his plate, and hopefully it won’t include dealing with how to evict a grumpy predecessor. But simple refusal to leave the premises will not make Trump the President.
And when those within the chain of command simply follow the new President’s orders, that will not be a military coup. It is the opposite that would be.
And simple eviction doesn’t tend to require the military. I doubt it would should the need arise here.
I think the main reason these pieces are potentially dangerous is the suggestion that there is any realistic “choice” for the military in this process. That should never be on the menu. There is one commander in chief until Jan 20. And another at noon.
