love letters from your SO are great ,, love letters from your fam and tru friends are great as well ,,, but i believe the greatest love letters are the ones you write for yourself, so you can have something to reflect upon and refer back to in the future
i’ve seen it all irl—whether it be observing myself or others. sure, the thought’s beautiful when others have written those letters of love for us at that time.
but i’ve never seen a greater and more profound reaction when it comes to our own selves realizing how much we’ve experienced, grown from, and come to acknowledge the people we were in the past, based on the words we have written to ourselves.
from post retreats to valentine’s day to even creativity stemmed from quarantine boredom, i still think about the excitement witnessed when it comes to receiving things from our past meant to express love to ourselves. and i’ve seen it thru others too—my own friends and family.
yea there can be some silly nerves or cringe scurrying around when we’re about to read what our past selves wrote about us. but it was our way of expressing love at that time, and it was what made us happy. happiness and love never die over time.
there are varying levels when it comes to happiness and love, and sometimes the changes, transitions, and perceptions of what those two states mean to us can be totally drastic and shocking in an unexpected manner, good or bad. but once again, happiness and love can never die.
wait shit all that was spewed out in this thread is a genius idea and i should srsly hop on that—writing love letters to myself. benefit is that it’s a good discipline and productive cycle for focusing on yourself and expressing yourself in a well healthy manner :)
ah ok enough of my nearly 5 A.M. deep thoughts
